Another view of our lovely background rollercoaster...
Yukon Striker at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada
This program is designed to track your rollercoaster credits, and compare your total count to those of other users. It was developed in PHP for my Perl, Python and PHP course at UMASS Lowell in the fall of 2019.
Key Features:
- Allows user account creation and login/logout
- Allows adding of pre-loaded rollercoasters to a specific user account
- Allows adding of new rollercoasters to the master list of rollercoasters
- Displays a leaderboard of all users, with username and coaster count, and lists coaster credits for each user
- Displays a list of all pre-loaded rollercoasters (those on the "master list")
- Provides links to the Rollercoaster Database (rcdb.com) page for each rollercoaster
Instructions:
- If this is your first time here, start by clicking or tapping on "Create Account" in the menu at the top, pick a username and password, then click or tap on "Create User Account" to create your account
- Next, or if you're a returning user, click or tap "Login" and enter your username and password
- Now that you're logged in, it's time to add some coasters! Click or tap on "Add Coaster" in the menu(visible when logged in), then use the dropdown to choose a coaster to add. Rollercoasters labeled as "defunct" are no longer operating at that park, but if you've been on it... add it! You can also add a coaster that isn't on the list by clicking on "Add a New Coaster" and filling out the form. If your rollercoaster's park isn't on the list, use the "Add New Park" form on the same page to make it available on the "Add New Coaster" form.
- Once you've added some coasters, you can compare your credits with those of other users! Click or tap on "Leaderboard" to see everyone's coaster count, then on any name to see a list of their credits.
- Finally, if you want to see all of the rollercoasters available in this program (so far), click or tap on "List of Coasters"
Version Information:
This is the online version of Coaster Counter. It can be run from any current browser, and it connects to a mySQL database. This is the third version of this program. Updates made here should be reflected in the locally-run remote access (second) version, and vice versa.
Thanks for using Coaster Counter!
Have fun, and ride on!
